Meet Dr. Robert Baumbick
Before I became a chiropractor I was a mechanical engineer for ten years and had never been to a chiropractor. I was married, we were expecting our first child, and my wife Debbie developed a headache that would not go away. After a week without relief, she went to a chiropractor that was recommended by a good friend. It was amazing! Within a half hour of receiving her first adjustment, her headache was gone! Her doctor didn’t know what to do except suggest taking Tylenol. it took our friend to find the answer, and it did not involve taking drugs. I have seen many more miracles over the years and the amazing thing is that it is accomplished with just a pair of hands.
I had always been interested in the human body since my first biology class in high school. I tried to stay in good shape and eat right and avoided medications, even when I felt sick or got a headache. I did not have an interest in medicine and really didn’t know about chiropractic at the time.
Since I was strong in math and science, engineering seemed like a good career choice for me. I liked engineering, but it was not my passion. Ironically, what turned out to be the worst day of my life, was also the best day. I was laid-off after four years at General Electric, and with the encouragement of my wife, I decided to pursue a career in chiropractic. That earlier experience with my wife’s headaches had initiated an interest in the profession. I had researched chiropractic and had even discussed changing careers, but did not have the courage to start over, until that fateful day. I thought what have I got to lose and looking back, I am so glad I made this choice.
I love helping people get better, and live more fulfilling lives. I love the challenge of helping the people who have exhausted all their options in their struggle to find relief and have given up hope! To me this is not a job. I enjoy helping people and watching them get their health back.”
Education and Experience
I chose Logan College of Chiropractic in Chesterfield, MO because I thought it provided a well balanced education in both the science and philosophy of chiropractic. It also was a prime location for us to afford a house and for my wife to find gainful employment as a nurse with the many hospitals in the St. Louis area. This was an important consideration, since we were starting over with three young children. So it was most challenging trying to balance family life with schoolwork.
I enjoyed most of the classes, but my favorite classes were anatomy lab, dissecting cadavers, and anatomy & physiology lecture. I was fascinated with how the human body functioned. I was surprised at how many of our professors were medical doctors, some of whom taught medical students the same courses at St. Louis University Medical School. Classes like Histology, Microbiology, Pathology, and Anatomy & Physiology. Many of the other teachers were Phds or chiropractors. I enjoyed listening to the professors in private practice and the miracles they observed in restoring the health of patients.
My mission is to help as many people as possible attain optimal health through chiropractic care, nutritional therapy, and lifestyle modification. We educate all our patients on what changes they can make and devise specific treatment plans to improve their health. No patient is too old or too bad to help. We want to help improve the quality of our patients health so that they can live life to their full potential and enjoy their family and friends. So if you have a health problem that has taken over your life, give us a try, what have you got to lose? That is why I offer a free consultation to anyone who might want to find out what chiropractic care can do for them.
Outside the Office
I have been married to my wife Debbie since 1984, and we have five adult children and six grandchildren. We spend much of our time involved with are grandchildren and their sports, which include rugby, soccer, football, volleyball, baseball and dance. Our family enjoys outdoor activities, staying active and beach vacations. We like spending time together at the pool, bonfires, and jetskiing.
My wife, our children, grandchildren and I get regular adjustments. I like to stay in shape by weight lifting, running and other cardio activities. We eat organic foods as much as possible, but like any family we also enjoy various treats like ice cream, my favorite. Our children and grandchildren have not been vaccinated and rarely use over the counter medicines. We use various herbs and nutritional supplements to enhance and support the health of our bodies. However, at Baumbick Chiropractic we respect the choices you make regarding these topics, and are here to educate you to other options at your request.
